Wheel production restarts at Titan Europe plant
Titan Europe plc has announced that limited production at the company’s large agricultural wheel facility in Finale Emilia, Italy recommenced on 16 July, a little under two months after being knocked out of operation by an earthquake in the region. The rim-rolling and assembly welding areas of the factory will progressively return to normal volumes over the next few weeks, with production scheduled to continue during the normal summer shutdown period, the company’s Board of Directors stated.
The plant has been closed since the 20 May earthquake while remedial work was undertaken. During this period, Titan Europe sourced products from its factories in France and Turkey and also procured capacity from other manufacturers, including from two of the company’s “significant shareholders” and at the new facility it recently installed at the Bobruisk plant in Belarus. Remedial work is continuing at the Finale Emilia facility in order to ensure the structural stability of the building housing its paint plant. Titan Europe’s Board anticipates production will recommence there in October, and until then alternate painting arrangements will remain in place.
“The first stage of a return to production at the Italian facility is a remarkable achievement by the teams at Titan Wheels and Titan Italia and the Board would like to extend congratulations to all those involved,” said the Titan Europe Board in a statement.
The agricultural wheel factory in Finale Emilia accounts for annualised sales of around £50 million, representing ten per cent of Titan Europe’s revenue.
