VDB awarded 1000th AEO certificate
Dutch enterprises involved in international trade and commerce have the option of applying for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status with the Netherlands customs agency. The advantages of AEO status include being subjected to fewer physical inspections and document checks, priority treatment of consignments if selected for control – benefits that save time. AEO certificate companies are also viewed as reliable business partners.
Hellevoetsluis-based tyre wholesaler Van den Ban Autobanden B.V. has held AEO status since April 2008, and recently the company reached the milestone of receiving its 1,000th AEO certificate; on 26 June, the director general of the Netherlands’ Tax and Customs Administration, Willy Rovers, presented VDB managing director Frans van Lenten the thousandth certificate.
VDB comments that AEO certificates are recognised throughout the European Union, and a number of criteria must be met before one is issued. Therefore, the wholesaler notes, the obtaining of an AEO certificate is therefore a quality assessment of VDB on how it controls its flow of goods, both physically and administratively.
