Michelin releases XADN+
Half a year after its public unveiling at Intermat 2012, Michelin’s all-new XADN+ articulated dump truck tyre has been launched. The tyre is initially available in the popular size 29.5R25 and is suitable for groundwork, infrastructure construction, quarry and mine applications. The XADN+ range will replace the current XADN line-up, which was launched in 1996.
Michelin says the XADN+ makes earthmover operations more profitable through maximised equipment uptime, an achievement attributed to a more durable tread with optimised bracing plies and casings. The French manufacturer also stated that tyre life has been increased by eight to 15 per cent through the use of a new rubber compound in the tread. Furthermore, the XADN+ contains 14 kilograms fewer raw materials than its predecessor, enabling an average dumper to reduce its weight by 84 kilograms. Each tyre’s overall weight, with an internal volume of 1,221 litres, is slightly under 540 kilograms. The size 29.5R25 E3 tyre’s total diameter is 1.86 metres. It is more than 70 centimetres wide, with a rolling circumference of approximately 5.70 metres and load capacity of up to 14 tonnes.
