Kirkby goes large with OTR/EM tyres

With a head office and warehouse complex on a six acre site next to John Lennon airport in Liverpool and offices in Scotland, Ireland and China Kirkby Tyres report that the company remains at the forefront of tyre and wheel wholesaling. In addition to holding a range across sectors, Kirkby offers what it calls a “comprehensive stockholding of off-the-road (OTR) tyres and wheels from manufacturers including Alliance, BKT and Double Coin. There is even talk of double-digit growth despite the tough economic environment.

Kirkby Tyres is sole agent for Double Coin in the UK and Ireland. Double Coin offers a wide range of OTR tyres – some of the latest additions include 49, 35, 51 and 57-inch radials designed to go on rigid dumpers complementing their existing REM10 (E3) 26.5 and 29.5 R25 tyres for articulated dumpers and scrapers and REM2 (E3/L3) 17.5 R25 through to 26.5 R25 and REM18 (L5) 35/65 R33 for use on Loaders, Dozers and Graders. The Double Coin range is completed with he REM8 High Speed crane line of tyres which reportedly continues to be a very popular tyre due to its durability and competitive pricing.

Kirkby Tyres also distributes BKT tyres as the UK main agent. According to the company, the BKT Earthmover range of tyres has made its mark in this niche segment of the market with a range covering the dumper, grader and quarrying markets. Some of the latest tyres to enter the market include the 12.00 R24 through to 24.00 R35. Another relatively new introduction is the 29.5 R25 BKT SR40 E4 TL Rock Grip tyre. With an extra deep ‘non directional’ sturdy lug pattern it is aimed at mining, quarrying and rock extraction. The ‘Grader’ tyre market is amply catered for by BKT which includes the 17.5×25 GR288 Grader L2 – a wide based, self cleaning tyre with flat tread contours and a large contact area. 

Furthermore Kirkby Tyres is the sole UK and Ireland agent for Alliance’s range of agricultural, earthmover and OTR tyres. The OTR range includes a new wide based radial in the 650 pattern for use on Loaders, Dozers and Graders. The 650 has been designed with a compound that has exceptional wear characteristics and an all steel casing for durability and puncture resistance. The new radial is available in sizes from 15.5 R25 up to and including 26.5 R25. A new port tyre is also now available in the 309 design and is available as E3 in sizes in 14.00 – 24.00, 16.00-25 18.00-25. Completing the new line-up of Alliance OTR tyres is the 630 High Speed Crane 16.00R25 tyre with a special rubber compound with low heat build-up and which allows multi-treading.
