Zeon 2XS – OE reliability at an affordable price, says Cooper

The Cooper Zeon range features high performance tyres that are designed to give superior safety and performance levels across the board. Cooper Tire says this high performance range has been developed using the same principles and technology applied to the Cooper Motorsport range, and the result is that it delivers exceptional performance on both road and track.

The Cooper Zeon 2XS is an ultra-high performance tyre employing a racing-inspired tread compound. The manufacturer describes it as a truly dynamic tyre for high performance cars, and says it offers a number of technologically advanced features, from its construction and tread compound to its tapered tread design. It has, says Cooper, all the looks and driver feedback you’d expect from a pedigree performance tyre.

The tyre’s compound is said to give excellent traction in both the dry and the wet, enhancing the feel and sensation whilst providing added control for the driver. “Capable of eating up the motorway miles, while equally up to the task of winding country roads and circuits, the Zeon 2XS is perfectly suited to provide high performance on a range of surfaces,” Cooper comments.

Road handling and performance aside, road noise and comfort were also key considerations during the design and testing process. The Zeon 2XS minimises road noise thanks to what the tyre maker calls a Double Shoulder Tread Element. The calculated stagger on the tread element is intended to reduce noise across the contact surface, thereby creating a quieter ride.

Several design elements have also been incorporated for practicality purposes. Rim protection extends beyond the rim flange, helping prevent against kerb damage, and a slightly-rounded mould also provides an increased tread life and reduced ware.

Promoted by Cooper as the ideal tyre for customers looking for an ultra-high performance product created without compromise, the 2XS features the “handling, aggressive looks, grip and reliability of original equipment rubber at an affordable price.” It is available in a wide range of fitments for high performance cars, in W and Y speed ratings.
