Updated ViaMichelin site launched
Using input drawn from users, Michelin has updated its ViaMichelin website. The French manufacturer reports that the new site – which is also available for mobile devices with the free ViaMichelin Mobile application – features completely reworked ergonomics that make it easier to use. Michelin describes the most important additions to the new version as being a map on the home page that is geo-positioned to the user’s last search, highly visible itinerary options, unique data-entry fields and, for users in France, the integration of traffic conditions when calculating travel time.
Elaborating on the new site’s itinerary options, Michelin says that depending on their needs and desires, visitors can choose from among several itineraries. “These include the standard Michelin itinerary, which is easy to follow and minimises the risk of taking a wrong turn, as well as an ‘economical’ itinerary that offers reduced fuel consumption and a ‘discovery’ itinerary that enables the traveler to take scenic roads of interest to tourists.”
The new site is available in eight languages and covers eleven European countries. According to Michelin, the ViaMichelin site receives more than 430 million visits a year.
