Sandivasci becomes Pirelli UK chairman
Dominic Sandivasci has been appointed Pirelli UK chairman, succeeding Lord Marshall in the position. Sandivasci has been the managing director of Pirelli UK since 1998 and will continue to hold his responsibilities in that position. He will also continue to be based in Burton upon Trent. Sandivasci said: “I’m extremely proud to be offered the ultimate accolade of becoming chairman of the Board and hope that I can continue to provide the guidance, assurance and governance to the business that was so well managed and instilled by Lord Marshall.”
Sandivasci joined Pirelli UK in November 1987 and spent his first years in the Original Equipment sales department. After becoming an executive of the Group barely one year after joining Pirelli, he was then appointed as sales director (UK & Eire) in 1994. In 1997 he was made commercial director and then in 2002 he was appointed head of Western Europe (which included UK, Eire and Holland). Subsequently, he was appointed to the position of managing director of Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd, a mere decade after first joining the Company.
As the longest serving MD for Pirelli in the UK, Sandivasci managed and developed the commercial policies that focussed on the customer and ultimately led to a market-leading position in sales of premium performance tyres, according to the company. He also oversaw the addition into the UK portfolio of the revolutionary MIRS production process (Modular Integrated Robotized System) at the Burton upon Trent site, as well as the specialised Formula One and motorsport operation, which provides services through Pirelli Motorsport Services Ltd from a dedicated centre of excellence.
Sandivasci added: “I am extremely proud of Pirelli’s UK team, who have maintained their focus and support throughout some very difficult periods and who have consistently risen to the challenge of delivering sustained growth and profit together with continuous efficiency improvements.”
