London to Paris charity cycle challenge
Senior executives from the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, the Freight Transport Association, the Road Haulage Association and Transport for London have joined forces with Transaid to organise a charity bike ride from London to Paris, with the aim of raising £100,000 to support Transaid's Professional Driver Training projects in Africa.
Transaid is an international development agency that aims to improve people’s quality of life in the developing world by making transport more available and affordable.
The bike ride will take place over a long weekend between 5 and 8 October this year and is open to any team or individual working in the transport and logistics industry. The 310km ride will take three days and finish beside the Eiffel Tower – participants will set off through the streets of London towards Dover, taking an evening ferry to Calais. Day four gives riders the chance to explore the sights of Paris before returning on Eurostar. Accommodation en route will be in hotels.
Participants must pay a £99 registration fee and commit to raising £1,500 or more. For further information or to download a registration pack, visit www.transaid.org/london-t-paris-cycle-ride or e-mail aggie@transaid.org.
