HiQ opens 2012 Grid Girl competition
HiQ has launched a competition to find its 2012 Grid Girl. The winner will represent the brand and its partnership with Breast Cancer Care at the final round of Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship racing at Brands Hatch in October and act as its ambassador for ‘Pink October’; the yearly fundraising campaign for Breast Cancer Care. HiQ has targeted £100,000 as its fundraising milestone. Voting on the campaign will be stimulated through HiQ’s Facebook app, part of the brand’s vibrant social networking channels on Twitter and Facebook, where regular updates will also be posted. Nominations are open now, and a top 10 will be created after a period of voting, at which point a second phase of voting will begin, both online and through HiQ’s Facebook app.
Each shortlisted entrant will feature on HiQ’s official website and social networking channels and will incorporate a bespoke video on each candidate, where they will state their case for winning the competition. The overall winner will then claim the title of HiQ’s 2012 Grid Girl along with a make-up and photoshoot experience with a top British photographer and stylist.
The winning HiQ Grid Girl, dressed in HiQ’s iconic pink racing suit, will be the figurehead for the brand’s three year association with the cause. The successful candidate will also be the grid girl for Redstone Racing and BTCC championship hopeful Mat Jackson.
HiQ says its support of the charity has played an integral part in its promise to create a car care environment that women in particular are happy to come into. The Grid Girl will represent the culmination of a 36 month education and fundraising campaign for the brand, it says.
HiQ’s marketing manager Geraldine McGovern said: “We launched our grid girl initiative in 2009 and it has gone from strength to strength ever since. Not only does it raise awareness in a charity close to our hearts, but it will allow a lady to have the chance to enjoy the limelight in front of 35,000 spectators.
“The search will represent the culmination of three years of hard work and dedication to a cause that is synonymous with everything we strive to achieve as a network.”
In addition to this initiative, HiQ will host a Breast Cancer Care video on the homepage of its website. Back in the physical world, HiQ will hold ‘Strawberry Tea’ fundraising events throughout June and July.
