Cordiant to establish 200 own-brand tyre centres by 2015
JSC Cordiant – the tyre maker formerly known as Sibur-Russian Tyres – says it intends to launch a network of franchised tyre centres under the Cordiant name. The first three centres, in Novocheboksarsk, Orenburg, and Krasnodar opened in April/May and a further six projects are expected to get underway by the end of June. The company intends for thirty Cordiant centres to open by the end of this year and more than 200 by 2015. Cordiant says it is investing at least 250 million roubles (£4.8 million) in the project.
JSC Cordiant general director Dmitry Sokov describes developing the Cordiant tyre centre network as a “priority” for the company, as it will aid the tyre maker in increasing the number of own-brand tyres it sells and meet growing Russian demand for quality truck and bus tyre servicing and sales.
The tyre maker is seeking both new and established tyre centres for its network, and says multi-brand centres are eligible to join. Cordiant estimates that when the first stage of its network is formed, 30 per cent of its turnover from tyre sales will come from the Cordiant-branded tyre centres.
