ATS-E to provide Pirelli tyre service to haulier
Domestic and European freight haulier Eurovision Logistics has appointed ATS Euromaster to supply, fit and service Pirelli tyres on its fleet. The Hull-based business trialled the policy from September 2011, when ATS-E fitted a single tractor unit and trailer in the Eurovision Logistics fleet with a mix of Pirelli new and remould tyres to demonstrate the lower tyre wear it could achieve. Dominic Yeardley, managing director of Eurovision Logistics, was convinced: “From early on in the trial we saw a marked improvement in tyre efficiency on the trial vehicle. Quality of service is critical to getting the most from your rubber; ATS Euromaster looked after these tyres as if they were its own. They promised to make our tyres more efficient and they haven’t disappointed.”
The new tyre policy sees a mixture of Pirelli FR01 and FH88 Energy tyres fitted on steer axles, with Pirelli TR01 and TH88 Energy, or NT88 remould tyres, used on drive axles. Trailers benefit from new Pirelli ST01 tyres or ST35 remoulds.
Eurovision Logistics operates more than 130 commercial vehicle assets, including 75 tractor units, 53 trailers and 10 rigid trucks. The new tyre policy replaces a previous agreement with another major tyre manufacturer and national service provider. “Since coming on board ATS Euromaster has recommended new pressure settings for our tyres, which should help to reduce wear. We are also benefitting from routine on-site fleet inspections, designed to spot and rectify any tyre issues before they result in unnecessary downtime,” adds Yeardley.
The new agreement sees mobile service teams from ATS Euromaster’s truck centre in Waverley Street, Hull, actively checking and adjusting pressures, regrooving, twinning and turning tyres on the rim – all key steps which help to maximise tyre life and increase fleet efficiency. ATS Euromaster is also providing 24/7 nationwide emergency roadside assistance via its fleet of nearly 1,000 mobile service vehicles; the largest in the UK.
On the continent, drivers can access the Euromaster Group’s European International Breakdown Service (EIBS), which provides account customers with access to 24/7 English language service and support across 12 European countries. It operates on a transparent charging structure, with invoicing directly to Eurovision’s UK account.
As well as transporting large consignments to and from the continent, Eurovision Logistics manages contract distribution for the convenience store industry and is also a member of the Fortec Pallet Network for the Hull postcodes, offering customers overnight pallet distribution throughout the UK.
