Yokohama tyre supplier for GT Asia
At the opening round of the GT Asia championship, held in Malaysia on 25 May, Yokohama Rubber began in its new role as control tyre supplier. The Japanese tyre maker supplied its Advan A005 for dry conditions and the Advan A006 for the wet.
The series is primarily contested by cars conforming to FIA GT3 regulations and is held in Japan, Malaysia and Macau. Each round is either 90 – 140 kilometres or a maximum of 60 minutes. This year, 11 rounds in six events are scheduled; three of the events will be held at the same time as the Super GT, which Yokohama says draws the largest number of spectators in Japan. The final round will be staged as the support race of the F3 Macau Grand Prix, for which Yokohama has provided control tyres for the past 30 years.
