Vote for ‘king of the supercars’ with Michelin
To celebrate its sponsorship of the Supercar Paddock at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, Michelin has been polling its Facebook fans on their favourite supercars of the 80s, 90s and 2000s. The first two rounds of voting are over, with the Porsche 959 trouncing the Ferrari F40 and the Lamborghini Countach to take the ultimate 80s supercar crown. In the 90s poll the McLaren F1 overcame the Porsche 993 GT2 and the Bugatti EB110. The 2000s poll is underway and petrol-heads can choose from the Ascari KZ-1, the Koenigsegg CCX and the Bugatti Veyron.
Fans who cast their vote can win what Michelin calls an ‘unforgettable experience’ at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from 28 June to 1 July. Furthermore, owing to the poll’s popularity, Michelin has added another, dubbed ‘King of Supercars: The Final Race’ to decide which of the decade winners is the all-time ultimate supercar.
Two pairs of tickets are up for grabs in each poll – a top prize of overnight VIP glam-camping plus entry tickets and a second prize of a pair of entry tickets to the event. Competition participants will also be entered into a grand prize draw to ride with IRC rally champ Andreas Mikkelsen in his Skoda UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 around the Goodwood Forest Rally Stage – including a pair of entry tickets and overnight glamping accommodation.
The range of attractions on offer at the Festival of Speed include appearances by F1 drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, the iconic Hillclimb and the chance to get up close to astonishing speed machines at the Michelin Supercar Paddock, including the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, the Koenigsegg Agera R, the Ferrari 599 GTO, the Lotus Evora GTE and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
