Reifen Essen preview – part 1
The Olympics come round only once every four years, but those waiting for what is arguably the tyre world’s leading event need only wait half as long. In the years since the first show in 1960, Reifen Essen has become an important date for the tyre sector; certainly, in terms of statistics, it’s hard to hold a candle to – the last biennial show in attracted more than 18,000 trade visitors, who came from 127 countries to visit the Essen, Germany-based show. Within the various halls at the Messe Essen site they met up with some 600 exhibitors from 42 lands.
In June 2012 the show returns for the 27th time, and Tyres & Accessories will be there. In our April magazine we bring you part one of our show preview.
TPMS
Optimising rolling resistance is all well and good, but an underinflated tyre can more than negate any benefit provided through carefully mixed compounds and a tweaked design. Tyre pressure monitoring systems are therefore not just important; they’re important enough for their use in new vehicles to be made mandatory in some parts of the world.
April’s Tyres & Accessories covers what is undoubtedly an important aspect of today’s tyre sector.
Wheel report
In the April issue we’re getting to the centre of things, or at least to the centre of the wheel. The focus at T&A is typically on the black, rubbery ring, but within every great tyre sits a rim. Therefore once a year we digress slightly and cover this important component in our Wheel Report.
