Point S moves into South Africa
Retail franchise operation point S has confirmed an agreement with Unity Tyre Trading, a group of 11 independent tyre dealers in South Africa. The company announced that it was pursuing international development opportunities outside Europe at Las Vegas’ SEMA show in November, and its launch in the new African territory has confirmed point S’s ambitions in this direction. Point S also strengthened its Central European operations, by signing an agreement with the Slovenian firm, Span.
The Master Franchise agreement with purchasing group Unity Tyre Trading covers 18 retail outlets in the Gauteng (Johannesburg) and Mpumalanga (North East) regions, with a consolidated turnover of 22 million Euros. All the members have a long and solid experience, some of them with two or three generations in the tyre business, and are looking to use the point S retail concept and image by sharing a common CI to consolidate their Group.
Point S said its interest in establishing an international HQ in South Africa was motivated by the fact that it is the biggest and more mature market in Africa, representing an annual tyre demand close to 10 million units for passenger cars and light trucks.
The company revealed the “harmonisation” of the 18 outlets with the point S colours was already in progress. The point S network development plan is to reach national coverage with 50 outlets.
Central Europe presence reinforced
The announcement of a new Master Franchise agreement in Slovenia with the company Span has allowed point S to strengthen its position in Central Europe.
Span has been active in the Slovenian market for more than 30 years from its main location close to Ljubljana. The company operates car dealerships alongside a strong tyre business in both retail and wholesale. With more than 200 customers across the country, Span will develop a point S network with a critical mass target of 20 outlets.
Including these two new markets implementations, point S is now active in 25 countries, representing over 2,400 outlets worldwide.
