Michelin Facebook poll to decide “ultimate supercar”
Michelin is currently polling its Facebook followers on their favourite supercars of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, ahead of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed where it is sponsoring the Supercar Paddock. The first two rounds of voting are over, with the Porsche 959 prevailing over the Ferrari F40 and the Lamborghini Countach in the ‘80s, and the McLaren F1 overcoming the Porsche 993 GT2 and the Bugatti EB110 in the ‘90s. The 2000s bracket features the Ascari KZ-1, the Koenigsegg CCX and the Bugatti Veyron.
Michelin has also added another poll – dubbed King of Supercars: The Final Race – to decide if the Porsche 959, the McLaren F1 or the winner of the 2000s vote is the all-time ultimate supercar. Those casting their vote have a chance to win a place at the Festival of Speed, taking place from 28 June to 1 July.
There are two pairs of tickets up for grabs for each poll – a top prize of overnight VIP camping (or glamping, as Michelin puts it) plus entry tickets and a second prize of a pair of entry tickets to the event. Competition participants will be entered into a grand prize draw to ride with rally champ Andreas Mikkelsen in his Skoda UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 around the Goodwood Forest Rally Stage.
The Festival of Speed includes appearances by Formula One drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, the Hillclimb and the chance to get up close to speed machines at the Michelin Supercar Paddock, including the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the Koenigsegg Agera R, the Ferrari 599 GTO, the Lotus Evora GTE and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
