Maxxis to continue Japspeed momentum at Modified Nationals
The Maxxis British Drift Championship rolled into Castle Combe for the tenth anniversary of Japfest, Europe’s biggest Japanese Car Show, where Maxxis-sponsored drift outfit Team Japspeed demonstrated the sport. The event was used as a showcase for Team Japspeed’s skills and the capabilities of the Maxxis MAZ1 Drift tyre it uses in the UK’s premier series. Next the brand will appear at Modified Nationals, the UK’s biggest event dedicated to tuning and performance modifications. The show takes place at the Peterborough Showground from 1-3 June with an array of modified motors present.
Also travelling to the show for the brand will be the Maxxis Babes, who will be based at the Maxxis unit throughout the three days. These two special anniversary events lead into the 2012 car show season, during which Maxxis will visit Donington Park for Japfest 2: The Evolution on 8 July, where performance fans will get the chance to experience white knuckle rides courtesy of the Maxxis British Drift Championship “drift taxis”.
After that, Maxxis goes to Silverstone for Ford Fair on 12 August, which is billed as “Europe’s biggest and best Ford festival”, followed by TRAX on 2 September. Here, drift cars will once again be the star attraction, as TRAX is hosting a round of the Maxxis British Drift Championship. Maxxis is rounding off its support for the UK’s performance car scene at the VW Players show at North Weald Airfield on 16 September.
Other highlights of the Modified Nationals show include the Best Lit Car Display, freestyle motocross stunt riders, the new Built not Bought competition and an autotest competition that allows visitors the chance to test their skills on track, competing against the clock around a set course for a cash prize. Over 2,500 cars will attend the club stands arena, while the indoor exhibition hall will house the UK’s top modified and tuned show cars.
The event also boasts an After Dark party on the Friday and Saturday nights, with three live stages. In addition to live performances by Devlin & Sway and support acts, DJ Richie Don and MC Stallion will spin party, dance, chart, dubstep and R&B music.
