Less than a week left for DACC 2012 designs and votes
Art experts take note – the 10 May deadline is approaching for the Dunlop Art Car Competition, in which racing fans and artists have the chance to design the livery for a Ferrari F458 Italia competing in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. This is the fourth year that a Dunlop car’s design has been created by competition winners – but Dunlop says this year there is a big difference – designers/artists have a much freer canvas for designing the look of the Dunlop-sponsored Ferrari F458 Italia entered by JMW Motorsport.
Entries have been received from across Europe, and so far the top ten voted designs come from France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal and Spain. Votes are critical. The top two ‘liked’ entries for each country go through to the European final, along with two designs selected by a jury. The most popular entry overall also receives an automatic place in the final four.
Designs can be ‘liked’ by visiting the http://artcar.dunlop.eu website. The site also features instructions for submitting designs – cancel your weekend plans now and get busy if you haven’t already uploaded your own creation. The winning artwork will be unveiled on 2 June and seen by over 200,000 Le Mans spectators and millions of television viewers.
“This year we have taken the competition to a new level and are bringing together the designs from racing enthusiasts along with those of design and art students.” says James Bailey, director, European Motorsport Marketing and Communications. “We are confident that the mix has delivered a new level of racing car design that will offer an impressive selection of finalists. Now we need voters to help us choose the best.”
