Lassa sponsoring V1 Challenge
Lassa Tyres has become tyre sponsor for the V1 Challenge Moldova – a series held in a number of cities and run using Volkicars, a race car developed by Turkish racing driver Volkan Işık. And while Lassa’s sponsorship deal is new, the tyre maker can claim a further connection of sorts to the V1 Challenge – the series was developed by Işık, who led the Lassa Rally Team from 2007 to 2010.
“Volkicars were assembled in Turkey and equipped with the latest technology parts. We will be the first country to conduct such races,” said Igor Vrabie, president of the Moldova Racing Federation. The V-1 Challenge debuted in Moldova on the weekend of 5-6 May in the capital Chisinau; the series consists of six races, four in the capital and one each in the cities of Comrat and Balti.
Lassa says it was attracted to sponsoring of the V-1 Challenge in Moldova as it is committed to supporting the development of motorsports, both locally and in countries where it operates, such as Moldova. “We are very thrilled to be the official tyre sponsor of Moldova – V1 Challenge and I would like to thank to everyone for their efforts in hosting it in Moldova,” commented Halit Şensoy, Lassa’s director of International Sales and Marketing. “I also would like to take this opportunity to wish all participating V-1 Challenge drivers a successful first championship season ahead.”
