High performance tyres, high performance service
High performance cars require high performance tyres – obviously. What’s not quite as obvious is that today’s tough market conditions are sharpening the motorist’s eye for real value and service – especially in the more discerning and therefore challenging high performance tyre market, which increasingly demands ‘high performance service’ to match. The good news, says Stapleton’s, is that this is exactly where it can make a vital difference – by throwing the weight of its nationwide network of 19 warehouses, 18 distribution points and a stock of 1.2 million tyres behind tyre retailer’s business.
”It goes without saying that Stapleton’s offer the complete range of high performance products from the big household name brands – Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Pirelli and Michelin – as a key part of our ‘working for the customer’ philosophy of working hard on backing up our retail customers’ businesses with high performance service and the best value in the market from our exclusive private brands’ high performance offerings,” comments Stephen Childs, Stapleton’s head of Range Planning & Marketing. “It’s our job to give the retailer every confidence that they can offer the very best product at every price point. Whether your customer’s looking for a specialist ultra high performance tyre or something that’s simply a cut above the standard tyre, you can offer the right tyre at the right price for any vehicle on the road – straight from Stapleton’s stock.”
Maxxis, the newest addition to the Stapleton’s exclusive portfolio, is a case in point. From the popular MAZ1, available in 50 sizes, to the new PRO-R1, available in 31 sizes and offering a focus on wet grip, low rolling resistance, improved fuel economy and quiet ride, the tyre maker’s comprehensive range covers almost every HP/UHP application a customer could need.
Ultra High performance is also at the heart of Nexen’s range – with 140 sizes across seven patterns, this well-established brand boasts the UHP sector’s most comprehensive offering, which Stapleton’s says features radical tread technology to provide added fuel efficiency, quieter running and terrific performance right across the market. A classic example is their all-rounder, the N6000.
Another brand designed with sports vehicles in mind – and with the reassurance of a household name and an 80-year track record behind it – is the high performance MP46 range from mid-range manufacturer Matador, part of the Continental stable. Available in sizes from 16- to 20-inch, Stapleton’s says the range offers superb braking and solid manoeuvrability in the wet as well as the dry.
Manufactured by GiTi, the Primewell range of 96 sizes across four patterns also leans towards the UHP end of the market – especially in the case of the PZ900, whose V-shaped tread and robust construction are said to deliver low rolling-resistance without compromising handling as well as a quiet ride and excellent wet road performance.
Continuing the theme of household name brands backing affordable private ones, the fact that Kleber is manufactured by Michelin and that its HP Hydraxer range is so comprehensive in the 15- to 18-inch size range makes it a well-established favourite within the Stapleton’s stable and a leading brand in its own right.
Of course, it’s not just sports car drivers who require a high performing tyre. Aware of that, Prestivo have traditionally been best known for their excellent mid-range passenger car radials, but of late they’ve been investing heavily in the high performance 3000 and sport 8000 series, which Stapleton’s says add exhilarating high performance driving qualities to the characteristically comfortable ride associated with a Prestivo tyre.
“We’re keenly aware that our customers’ businesses rely on us to help them deliver high performance service and value to match these private brands’ high performance offerings. With that in mind, we encourage all of our retailers to take full advantage of major benefits to the bottom line such as personally tailored reward schemes, preferential pricing, lifetime guarantees and a complete range of in-store promotional support including leaflets, posters and branded merchandise as part of each brand’s exclusive Key Dealer Programme,” said Childs in summary.
