Goodyear gets Bombardier OE deal
Goodyear Aviation will supply its Flight Radial tyre to the new Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 business aircraft, scheduled to enter service in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Goodyear will provide the aircraft manufacturer with nose and main radial tyres for both the original equipment and replacement channels, according to Bert Aertssen, general manager, global aviation, Goodyear. “This award underscores Goodyear’s commitment to providing the industry with revolutionary radial tyre solutions with the incorporation of alloy core bead technology,” he said.
Alloy bead technology “reduces the weight of a tyre by replacing the steel core of the tyre’s bead area with lighter, alloy-like aluminum,” Aertssen noted. “It will contribute to the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets achieving improved fuel efficiency and performance.”
“Goodyear has been a valued supplier for many years, having provided original equipment tyres for our fleet of CRJ Series regional jets,” said Marie-Helene Pelletier, vice president, supply chain, business aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace. “Goodyear also has been the chosen tyre supplier for our Learjet 40, Learjet 45, Learjet 60, Challenger 300, Global 5000 and Global 6000 business aircraft. We are pleased to expand our existing supply agreement with Goodyear to incorporate tyres for our new Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets.”
“This new supply agreement is a very important next step in the continuation of the long-standing relationship between Bombardier and Goodyear, and is further validation of Goodyear’s commitment to industry-leading products and services,” said Charles Fellingham, area sales manager, aviation products, Goodyear. “We look forward to providing our Flight Radial tyre for the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft.”
