Goodyear Wranglers protect rhinos
Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA tyres have been chosen by The Forever Wild Rhino Protection Initiative – part of the Wild Foundation in South Africa – as the tyre of choice for its vehicles. The initiative champions anti-poaching activities in several regions of south-eastern Africa.
Goodyear contributed sets of the Wrangler tyres to fit six new VW Amaroks donated to the Wilderness Foundation – these vehicles will enable park rangers to better enforce rhino protection and the tyres are ideal for coping with the challenging terrain of the wildlife parks.
The tyre has a number of features that make it ideal for the gruelling task ahead; its off road performance is enhanced by SilentArmor Technology, which incorporates two layers made with DuPont Kevlar and by Durawall sidewall reinforcement that improves cut resistance.
Deep, staggered shoulder notches and traction ridges enable improved traction, particularly in the wet, while a newly-engineered carbon black blend rubber formula delivers good wet grip, mileage and off-road performance.
Said Hugues Despres, Goodyear Brand Director for EMEA Consumer: “It is projects like these which show a clear engagement from Goodyear to preserving our natural wealth, by delivering the right tools to the people who do the job. With our tyres, rangers can now go further into off-road territory, expanding their capabilities to protect the animals they manage every day.”
