Goodyear Dunlop not involved in LETA legal action
Whoever LETA – the recently formed industry association representing European tyre traders – is taking to court it isn’t Goodyear Dunlop. Following the news that the group of unnamed tyre traders have joined forces to take up court proceedings against unnamed tyre manufacturers to, in their view, protect the free trade rights and indeed the honour of likeminded companies, Goodyear Dunlop has confirmed that it is not involved in legal action with LETA.
In answer to a question from Tyres & Accessories asking the major manufacturer to confirm or deny that it had been summonsed by LETA, Goodyear Dunlop’s legal department responded by saying: “Like many other companies, Goodyear Dunlop protects its trademarks and intellectual property against unauthorized use, including, in Goodyear Dunlop’s case, the unauthorized or unlawful importation of trademark protected tyres into the EU from abroad.” Furthermore made it clear that it does not want to be associated with the kind of activity that LETA appears to be condemning: “Goodyear Dunlop does not endorse any activity which restricts the free movement of goods within the EU.”
