Goodyear and Conti win Auto Express product awards

Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 and Continental’s ContiWinterContact TS 830 P have won Auto Express’s best summer tyre and best winter tyre crowns in the magazine’s 2012 product awards.

In the summer category, reviewers praised the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2’s “great all round performance, summing is up simply as “safe and secure.” Michelin’s Pilot Sport 3 and Pirelli’s P Zero were also commended. Auto Express pointed out that the Michelin tyre benefited from what reviewers perceived to be a change in direction at the company towards an increased focus on wet performance. The Pirelli P Zero was described as a long running former test winner that could show “many more modern competitors the way.”

While the much lauded Continental ContiWinterContact TS 830 P won the product award gong overall and was described as showing “no weaknesses whatsoever”, it was interesting to see that two all-season tyres (The Hankook Optimo 4S and the Vredestein Quatrac 3) were also honoured alongside second place Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 2.

This year’s awards focused on products in 225/45 R17.
