From Birmingham to Beijing, on Goodyear tyres
Land Rover recently produced its one millionth Discovery vehicle and, to celebrate this milestone and demonstrate the Discovery's versatility and all-round capability, the company decide to send the vehicle on a trip – from Birmingham to Beijing.
For this epic, 50-day, 8,000-mile adventure, Land Rover chose Wrangler DuraTrac tyres for the three vehicles that undertook the daunting journey across more than a dozen countries. The conditions on the way were challenging and varied, including crossing mountains and driving on all sorts of surfaces.
The Wrangler DuraTrac was selected for its all-round performance; the tyre incorporates TractiveGroove Technology™ for enhanced traction in deep mud and snow and self-cleaning shoulder blocks that improve traction in dirt, gravel and mud. A solid rim guard helps protect wheels from kerbing damage and the tyre is pinned for metal studs, enabling it to function in heavy winter and icy conditions.
Beijing was chosen as China is one of Land Rover’s fastest-growing markets and the schedule meant that the Discoverys would arrive in time for the Beijing Motor Show on 23rd April. The initiative also aims to raise £1 million for the International Federation of Red Cross and donations can be made via the Land Rover website.
