Dmack to launch PCR, TBR tyre range through regional partners
Famed for its ascent to World Rally Championship tyre supplier status alongside tyre Goliath, Michelin since the 2011 season, Chinese-manufactured brand Dmack, based in Cumbria in the north west of the UK, will begin to supply a full range of road-going passenger car tyre and a super single 385/65R22.5 truck tyre globally through appointed regional distribution partners in June. The company’s managing director Dick Cormack and sales and marketing director Shane Harding told Tyrepress.com that Dmack is seeking to capitalise on its status as “one of the fastest growing motorsport brands” to position itself as a “quality mid-range” product range, which includes an eco-friendly, a high performance product and a cold weather tyre.
The tyres available from Dmack in its initial range include:
• the Distance – a general purpose tyre with the DMACK edge tread design for improved handling, reduced road noise, even tyre wear and increased longevity;
• the EcoXtra – a low rolling resistance tyre with nysafe layers forming a spinal wrap to enhance safety and performance;
• the Kinetic S – a high performance asymmetric tyre with inner and outer tread zones for improved braking, steering, cornering and traction, alongside a higher synthetic rubber-content compound;
• the TrackDay – a road-legal asymmetric tyre derived from the brand’s tarmac WRC tyre, with a Kevlar and polyamide spinal wrap and a steel reinforced sidewall for increased sports performance;
• and the WinterSafe – a studless ice and snow tyre developed to tackle freezing Monte Carlo Rally conditions with a directional 9.3mm tread and Dmack shark-grip to improve traction and reduce braking distance.
All of the Dmack tyres conform to REACH environmental requirements and meet the latest EU and US safety and performance standards, the company says.
Manufactured by Shandong Yongtai
All of Dmack’s tyres are being manufactured in China, like the company’s rally rubber, by Shandong Yongtai, which also makes road-going brands distributed in Europe, such as Vendetta and Durun. Cormack said that the company will begin manufacturing 25,000 tyres every month – meaning Yongtai will produce an estimated 300,000 Dmack road tyres in its first year of PCR production.
If that figure seems a little on the low side, considering the brand’s global availability, Cormack and Harding say that they are “looking to manage the growth of the brand”, suggesting that there is plenty of scope for increased production as and when the need arises.
Cormack said that the company has worked on the range for “a considerable length of time”, stressing the quality of the research and development opportunities offered by its motorsport activities.
The supply of rally tyres has allowed the brand to be particularly flexible and reactive in the development of its products, with a hugely demanding feedback loop in place, and great involvement of the brand in a technical capacity with the manufacturer. This involvement has carried over into the development of the PCR range
Dmack’s Global Partners
Talking to Tyrepress.com, Harding emphasised the role of Dmack Global Partners – the distributors from whom the tyres will be available – and the brand’s high-quality supporting materials available for dealer marketing. Dmack continues to search for local distributors in many regions, including its ostensible home market the UK, having appointed partners in Russia, the Middle East and South America amongst others.
The somewhat inverted approach of appearing in a global motorsport series before supplying a mainstream road-going tyre has paid dividends for Dmack in finding its appointed distributors so far, Harding revealed.
At the WRC’s Rally Argentina on 27-29 April, Dmack held a “mini sales conference”, at which it was able to forge agreements with some South American distributors. During the preceding Rally de Portugal on 29 March – 1 April, Dmack made ongoing contacts for potential deals on the Iberian peninsula.
After visiting New Zealand towards the end of June, Dmack will tour all the major European markets with the series between 24 August and 11 November, giving it the ideal opportunity to enhance the brand alongside its most famous activity in Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Spain.
Further details will be published in the June 2012 edition of Tyres & Accessories.
