Delta4x4 puts 22” wheels on a Yeti
Bavarian off-road specialist delta4x4 technicians were “taken aback” recently when asked to fit a large set of wheels to a Yeti. No they hadn’t discovered an immobile abominable snowman. Instead young woman customer was requesting the biggest possible wheels for her Skoda Yeti. However, while there were no actual mythical creatures involved, there does seem to have been a hint of the green-eyed monster. Apparently her motivation was to outdo her husband who drives an Audi Q7 with 20 inch wheels.
Delta4x4 overcame the obvious technical difficulties by first raising the car 20mm with a suspension distance kit. Then to emphasize the Yeti´s off-road appearance a side bar and front bar was added. Even though the tyres are designed more for shopping centres than for tough mudding, they added to an overall vehicle clearance of 21cm giving the Yeti a 5 cm height gain.
According to the company, the delta4x4 lift kit costs 572 euros. The fender flares are 700 euros. The order involved another 3700 euros for a set of Lander wheels in 9x22inch including four 245/30 R22 Yokohama tyres. The front bar (tested and certificated in accordance with EC pedestrian security law) was 550 euros, making the whole upgrade 5522 euros in total.
