5 leading European tyre markets analysed
Research and Markets has published a report analysing key elements of the five leading tyre markets in Europe during the period 2011-2015; the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. The report notes the “significant impact” of the 2008-2009 economic crisis, during which all countries experienced reduced sales in 2008 and 2009, which was followed by uniform recovery through 2010, based on essential replacements. Each country went on to experience various levels of sales downturn in 2011.
This report, entitled “Leading Five Countries in the European Tire Market 2011-2015”, analyses the tyre market in the leading five economies in Europe from 2007 to 2011, forecasting its performance up to 2015. In addition to forecasting sales in the five territories, the report covers such subjects as the types of retailer in each country; what types of tyre are proving popular in various countries and regions; and understanding where and why budget segment tyres are most popular.
On the UK, the report suggests that declining tyre sales were not only driven by the impact of economic problems and consumers restricting their budgets. While all the markets are expected to have grown slightly by 2015 the UK is predicted to grow by up to 10.3 per cent.
The report also notes the preference across all five leading countries for purchasing tyres from specialists, a dynamic that has not changed significantly over the past five years and is not expected to show much change in the future.
The report also addresses questions of winter tyre penetration; the countries most exposed to black markets; the retailer and tyre brand selection in the European tyre market; the market shares of the key distribution channels by country; and the average annual spend by consumers on tyres by country.
