TestWorld building year-round winter test centre in Summer 2012
Test World Oy, the well-known winter tyre and vehicle test operation in Finland has announced plans to build a year-round winter test centre which to fulfil the needs of vehicle and tyre manufacturers. According to the company, the first phase of construction will start in May 2012 and this part of the site will be in operation before the end of the year. The three-phase project to create the 30,000 square metre test centre will be completed by the end of 2015.
“The year-round winter test centre will remove one of the biggest bottlenecks in the development of vehicles: winter test dependence on the season and prevailing weather. We will be able to provide all the test conditions the automotive industry requires year-round,” said Test World’s President and CEO Harri Eskelinen.
“The project strengthens Ivalos’ position as the world’s best winter testing area and Test World’s position as a leading expert in winter testing,” Eskelinen continued.
“Test-Center customers, which are at the cutting edge of automotive industry R&D, will bring their sub-contracting networks to Finland. This will create business opportunities for domestic companies, encourage innovation, as well as creating a shop window for our highly talented engineers in one of the world’s largest industries,” added Turo Tiililä, Test World’s chairman of the board.
