Stamford Sport Wheels seeking to raise worldwide reputation
Since its formation in Thailand in 2004, Singapore-based Stamford Sport Wheels has evolved into one of South East Asia's leading and most successful alloy wheel manufacturers, exporting products to European and North American markets. Its manufacturing complex is based in the province of Nonthaburi, approximately 60km north of Bangkok and consists of two production facilities spanning around 30,000sqm. The company currently has the capacity to manufacture over 900,000 wheels a year; the current SSW product portfolio includes fitments between 13” and 20”. This allows it to serve the growing demands of Asian markets while continuing to serve global export goals. The company now aims to enhance its image as a producer of quality alloy wheels in particular throughout European markets – including the UK.
SSW general manager, Colin Choo says: “We have our own working techniques, which are centred around a speciality in developing market brands for customers including creating their own individual styles.
SSW prefers not to copy existing designs and produces an alternative style to offer a completely original approach to modern alloy wheel designs. Ongoing design concepts for the future are constantly being researched and like all SSW wheels are geared towards all superior car marques.”
SSW also offers an “unlimited choice of colour,” including – as this claim would imply – making up ‘special’ colours if required. With a cosmetic commodity such as alloy rims the company considers meeting customers’ exact and specific requirements to be key to its success.
SSW operations manager, Andrew Beer comments: “Our global client base requires a number of different testing standards, style and appearance… All production personnel within the facilities are highly skilled and expertly trained and extremely proficient in their specialised activities and backed by SSW’s extensive and constant training programmes.
“Our focus is very much on quality rather than quantity and we relish the opportunity to work with companies to develop their own product. Total adaptability is an important byword at SSW which includes a very flexible approach to ordering schedules.”
The company is currently in the process of producing the next generation of SSW wheels, specifically designed for the European and American markets.
Choo concludes: “The European and UK markets are extremely important to SSW and our Firenza brand has begun to establish itself in both markets. However backed by a strong in-house marketing campaign, it is now our intention to take the SSW wheel to the next level of intensity in both markets.”
