Sibur – Russian Tires renamed Cordiant
Sibur – Russian Tires has announced that is renaming itself. According to the company, the name-change took effect on 3 April 2012 and new full name Joint Stock Company (or JSC) or just Cordiant for short.
“Renaming the company is not only a change of shareholders, but also to the evolutionary development of the company’s transition from a strategy of consolidating fragmented industry assets to the strategy of innovative development,” the general director of the holding company commented in an official statement on its website.
Legally renaming as “Cordiant” is accompanied by the introduction of a new corporate identity, which uses new elements of external and internal design of factories, the new corporate branding and other visual elements. According to the company, Cordiant is the most famous tyre brand in the Russian market and is one of just three “recognizable brands” relating to tyre in Russia. However, it is likely the other two contest this.

Scientific and technological development reportedly comes under a separate subsidiary – STC Intayr. The total number of workers employed by Cordiant is said to be more than 10,000.
