Performance Wheels introduces Fondmetal 9RR

Wheel brand Fondmetal has launched its new lightweight and heat-treated wheel the 9RR, available from Performance Wheels. The Italian firm has been active in the OEM and motorsport wheel market for four decades, and the 9RR draws heavily from Fondmetal’s race heritage.

The design features seven split spokes, optimised after extensive CAD simulation to give the best balance between integrity and lightness, according to the company. As well as continuous fatigue testing, the new wheel was also subjected to finite element analysis to ensure that areas of maximum stress were suitably reinforced, whilst structural rigidity was enhanced and negative resonant frequencies were eliminated.

Precision cast from primary aluminium as a one-piece wheel via Fondmetal’s low pressure casting process, each wheel is then subjected to T6 heat treatment, before being painted in a choice of either Silver or Nero high-quality finishes. The wheel has also been fully TÜV tested and approved.

Exemplifying the lightness of the wheel, Fondmetal says the 9RR’s 7×17” size weighs 7.45kg, and even the 11×20” fitment weighs only 12.25kg. Nine different sizes are available in a variety of widths and 17, 18, 19 and 20” diameters. Prices start at £210 (including VAT) for the 7×17” size.
