Nexen tyre “highly recommended” in German magazine tests
Nexen Tyre has received plaudits in a number of recent German motoring magazine tyre tests. According to the company, Nexen was awarded second place in the summer tyre test carried out by promobil, the motorhome magazine, as well as coming 11th out of 50 in the extensive ‘brake’ test carried out by Auto Bild. Auto Bild “sportscars” awarded Nexen with the “recommended” grade and Nexen also scored well at the ADAC.
Nexen is reportedly proud of the results of the 2012 summer tyre comparison test carried out by promobil, the motorhome magazine awarded to its Nexen CP321 model. The Nexen tyre, in 225/65 R 16 C and 235/65 R 16 C, performed well against the tester’s requirements. Nexen’s excellent results were supported by an above-average grade awarded to its wet profile tyres. Nexen’s CP321 sported a winning edge thanks to its braking performance, side control, handling and anti-aquaplaning abilities.
Auto Bild was looking for “Germany’s best summer tyre” in one of its recent issues. 50 products were tested in both wet and dry conditions in the first part of the test. Nexen N8000 in 225/45 R 17 W size earned 11th place. The test included measuring braking distance, where the Nexen tyre recorded only 37.0 metres in the dry and 46.1 metres in the wet (braking 100 km/h to 0 km/h). The tyre also did well in the second part of the test, in which only the top 15 tyres were allowed to participate. The magazine’s tyre specialists praised its smooth, quiet ride and the above-average anti-aquaplaning features.
Nexen N8000 was also tested by the magazine Auto Bild ‘sportscars’, which highlighted the sporty features of the ‘XXL tyres’. Eight 20-inch tyres were tested on a VW Scirocco model. The N8000 showed its true colours in 245/30 R 20 Y size, which is said to have performed especially well in the wet. Testers praised its safety features against aquaplaning and appreciated its performance in the side aquaplaning test; more praise was given to the tyre’s neutral handling, whether in the wet or dry, as well as to its smooth, compliant ride. A ‘good’ overall performance earned the tyre its “recommended” grade.
Nexen’s N8000 tackled the ADAC summer tyre test in 205/55 R 16 V size, which has had the largest market share (more than 40 percent of tyres have the ‘V’ speed index) for several years. The Korean tyre gave a convincing performance in the braking tests, and scored high in safety: its braking features allow the tyre to have a place among the premium brands.
These results are likely to be the result of development work carried out by the tyre product development team in Korea and at the Nexen Europe Technical Center in Frankfurt/Hoechst. Dr. Hendrik Stevens, manager at the NETC commented: “These test results confirm that the efforts we are making to achieve the best tyre quality in the demanding European market are finally paying off.”
