Lassa sponsors team in UK drift championship
Lassa Tyres has announced that it has signed a team sponsorship deal for the 2012 Maxxis British Drift Championship (BDC), the series’ fifth year. Lassa Tyres Drift Team is made up of Jody Fletcher, who was awarded the BDC rookie of the year 2011; Richard McCourt, who is in his second year of competitive drifting, aiming for promotion to the Professional class; and Simon Perry who has been drifting since the beginning of the BDC in 2008 and who has a massive amount of followers locally and nationally.
Lassa Tyres, produced by Brisa Bridgestone Sabanci Tyre Manufacturing and Trading Inc., are the number one tyre producer in Turkey. The company has been involved with various motor sports over a number of years, but has recognised drifting and was attracted to sponsorship of a team as the perfect place and opportunity to showcase Lassa tyres in action.
Simon Perry stated that: “Having Lassa on board gives us a huge boost, and with the fantastic grip that the Lassa tyres provide I am aiming high in 2012. I cannot wait to get on track at Teesside on 21-22 April…It is going to be a great season!”
“Drifting is one of the fastest growing motorsports and [this] British drift championship is one of the most exciting series, which attracts a huge fan base. Lassa tyres are hugely excited to be part of it and Simon Perry, Jody Fletcher and Richard McCourt are a terrific team. In 2012, each event will take place over a minimum of 2 days, kicking off with Teesside Autodrome, running in three separate classes – semi professional, professional and super professional. Aside from various media partners across every possible medium, from online blogs magazine features in Fast Car, Banzai Magazine, Japanese Performance Magazine, the Total Group and many more to viral videos, the BDC has also partnered up with Greenlight TV. Furthermore, Motorsport Mundial will be broadcast worldwide on Sky Sports and ESPN reaching over 600 million people worldwide.
