Heuver opens distribution centre in Bayreuth, Germany
Heuver Tyrewholesale has announced plans to open a distribution centre in southern Germany. The new warehouse in Bayreuth was scheduled to become operational in April. Currently Heuver is coordinating the flow of incoming goods, in order to ensure sufficient start-up stocks. According to the company, Bayreuth will become an important European point of support for the Aeolus brand. The first containers of Aeolus tyres have reportedly already been unloaded.
Heuver Tyrewholesale reports that it decided to open its own distribution centre in southern Germany to support the wider wholesale sector in the pursuit of better and faster logistics solutions while at the same time reducing costs. Via this point of support, which is located around 60 kilometres to the north-east of Nürnberg, Heuver wants to upgrade the delivery service it offers in central and south Germany, Switzerland, Austria and – in case of emergencies – the Czech Republic. The aim is to enable 24-hour delivery in most of these regions, whereby customers can order even later and still have their tyres delivered to them the very next day.
By using the premises in Bayreuth, Heuver reports that it will be quicker in supplying a larger part of the European market with its own import brand, Aeolus. The Dutch company thus expects to make Aeolus a success in a shorter period of time.
Bertus Heuver, director Heuver Tyrewholesale: “By opting for a strategic point of support in southern Germany, we can offer JIT (just in time) deliveries to a major share of our customers. This will help to improve the service they offer to their customers. They can have complete confidence in our stock in both Hardenberg and Bayreuth. Further, they will have to keep fewer Aeolus tyres in stock, which means our fast deliveries will contribute to the profitability of their businesses. Helping to find solutions and eliminating concerns is part of our ‘partner in business’ philosophy. We believe that such extra services are normal if you are leading player in the market.”
In due course the new distribution centre will offer all Heuver brands and types of tyres as quickly as possible ranging from truck and trailer to earthmover and agricultural markets.
