GT Radial to launch first commercial retread at Commercial Vehicle Show

GT Radial has announced that it will unveil its first commercial retread tyre product, the GT REE Tread, at The Commercial Vehicle Show 2012. With the brand representing an acronym for “Reliable, Economical and Environmental”, GT REE Tread is a high quality, hot cure bead-to-bead retread built on GT Radial casings. The company will present the tyre alongside its other new commercial products, the GSR220 steer axle pattern and the GDL617 non-directional long haul drive axle pattern, on Stand G40, in Hall 2.

Peter Foulkes, marketing manager Europe – Truck and Bus at GT Radial, said: “This is our first commercial vehicle retread tyre and we believe that it has the potential to make a real impact in the market. It offers definite cost and environmental advantages along with excellent overall performance.” GT estimates that a recycled tyre saves 68 litres of oil, 44 kilograms of rubber and 88 kilograms of CO² across the life of the product.  The REE Tread comes in a regional trailer pattern and is available in 385/65R22.5 sizing.

Other key product launches for GT Radial include the GSR220, a steer axle pattern with extra wide shoulder ribs for optimum mileage performance.  It features a redesigned casing to deliver excellent comfort, driving stability and reduced noise.  GSR220 is available in 295/80R22.R, 315/80R22.5 and 315/70R22.5 sizes with a 60 series in development.

Also on the stand will be the GDL617, a new non-directional long haul drive axle pattern featuring a multi-sipe design. The tyre uses the latest cool running compound design to achieve a lower rolling resistance for optimum mileage. It will be available in a variety of sizes from later this year, and GT Radial says interest from operators is already high.

Foulkes added: “We are now the number four player in the world in the bus and truck tyre market through our strategy of offering advanced products in a wide range of sizes at attractive price points with excellent service and technical back up.

“The new products we are unveiling at CV Show 2012 underline our commitment to this approach. Products such as REE Tread, GSR220 and GDL617 offer real advantages for operators and we expect them to help us increase our penetration into the UK and European markets.”

The company will also display its complete range of commercial vehicle tyres on the stand.
