GT Radial developing new winter products
GT Radial’s representatives presented details about the company's new GT Radial WinterPro HP during the dealer visit to its winter testing facility in Ivalo, Finland. A “high performance winter tyre” that was under development in Ivalo this winter, the tyre will be manufactured in Indonesia.
While the prototype tyres were currently unavailable to GT Radial dealers for testing, the company revealed that it is currently developing a high performance product that will extend the WinterPro name into larger sizes. While it shares the name of the directional WinterPro product, which has sizes between 13” and 16”, the WinterPro HP will use an asymmetric tread and has been fully designed as a new product, using “high performance technologies”.
Currently at the prototype stage, Corrado Moglia, the company’s marketing director – passenger car Europe predicts that the WinterPro HP will be launched in 2013 with a “minimum of 31 sizes”. It will be manufactured in a range of sizes between 16” and 20”, in the series 40-65 and with speed ratings between H and V, meaning that it will sit above the WinterPro range, providing some key UHP and SUV fitments.
In addition to the new passenger car winter tyre, GT Radial marketing manager Europe – truck and bus, Peter Foulkes told Tyrepress.com that the company is developing a winter TBR product in Sweden, though no additional details are currently available.
