'Trust My Garage' scheme launched by IGA

The RMI's Independent Garage Association (IGA) has launched the Trust My Garage scheme, a consumer reassurance scheme for independent garages.

Stuart James, IGA Director, commented: "The Trust My Garage scheme offers consumers who use Independent garages financial reassurance in the event of a dispute or if the garage goes out of business. This reassurance is backed by the IGA.

“This scheme is unique; currently consumers have nothing like this if they face a dispute with an independent garage. If a dispute does take place and the consumer is judged to be in the right, the IGA will guarantee payment of any financial award up to £1000.”

There are currently over 2,000 garages signed up to the scheme, a number that is growing daily. Each new member is put through a stringent site audit which it must pass in order to be able to display the Trust My Garage badge. 

James continued: “Garages will be able to display the Trust My Garage sign as a badge of honour that demonstrates their professionalism and dedication to the highest standards of skill and personal service.”
