Hankook long haul tyres OE for Freightliner
Under a newly-announced original equipment supply agreement, Hankook Tire will supply Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) with tyres for its Freightliner Cascadia and Coronado models, starting in May 2012. The two flagship Freightliner trucks will be equipped with Hankook Tire’s AL11 steer and DL11 drive tyres, the tyre maker stated during the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show.
“An OE agreement like this one with a leader such as DTNA is yet another critical proof point of our strong brand, investment in R&D, and leading,” said Jin-Wook Choi, Hankook Tire president and CEO for Europe. “As our growth continues throughout 2012 and in the years ahead we look forward to extending not only this relationship but also expanding further in the global premium truck tyre market.”
Hankook says the Smartway-certified AL11 and DL11 were specifically developed with North American market requirements in mind. The manufacturer describes the AL11 as being optimised for long haul driving conditions providing longer mileage, while the DL11 utilises a three dimensional kerf design that is said to minimise abrasion while maintaining superior traction control; the DL11 also comes with a new pattern design and compound developed specifically to achieve seamless performance and increased fuel efficiency for the Freightliners.
