Hankook Australia opens new warehouse, sponsors night football
Hankook Tyre Australia says the relocation of its New South Wales warehouse will improve distribution to dealers in that state. YCH Logistics, located at Sydney's Eastern Creek, will be the new central depot for Hankook tyres in the state; the facility replaces the warehouse currently located at TOLL Logistics in Yennora. The Yennora warehouse will continue to operate until the end of March.
“This decision has been made to improve our current dispatch and delivery service levels to all our valuable customers in New South Wales,” said Hankook Tyre Australia managing director Paul Park.
YCH Group was established in Sydney in the late 1990s and last year acquired LG Electronics Australia’s supply chain business. The Singapore-based logistics and supply chain management company now has an Australian network of more than 72,000 square metres of automated supply chain facilities with an operating capacity of more than 100,000 pallets across the main hubs in key Australian cities.
Rugby league a platform for tyre safety message
In addition to establishing a new warehouse, the tyre maker has increased its involvement with rugby league in Australia. Hankook, who is already the ‘official tyre’ of the National Rugby League, has entered into a commitment to sponsor Monday night league fixtures throughout the current season. Not only will Hankook serve as title sponsor to the Monday night games; it will also use them as a platform for sharing the dangers of driving on under-inflated tyres.
“With its huge national audience, the NRL is the ideal platform to raise consumer awareness about tyre safety,” commented Park. “Our NRL Pump it Up consumer information campaign will encourage league fans to regularly check their tyre pressures. Our message to fans is that driving on under-inflated tyres is like trying to kick an under-inflated football – the result is reduced performance and less control. Under-inflated tyres reduce handling control, lengthen braking distances and reduce tyre durability to the point where they could suddenly fail.”
National Rugby League CEO David Gallop said he is pleased to assist in spreading Hankook’s tyre safety message: “We want our fans to get to the game safely and return home safely; regularly checking tyre pressures can contribute to that and the NRL is happy to support that message.”
With the commencement of Hankook Monday Night Football, the tyre maker also becomes an official National Rugby League partner. “We are very pleased to have Hankook Tyre join our select group of corporate partners,” Gallop stated. “Hankook is a dynamic brand with big plans in Australia and we are looking forward to partnering with them as they grow in this market.”
