CES details its “Total TPMS Solution”
Aftermarket exhaust specialists CES (UK) announced its decision to diversify its business with the addition of TPMS products and services to its fast fit offer in January. The first step was to become an official Schrader TPMS distributor. Now the company is explaining more about the thinking behind this move, predicting that tyre specialists and independent garages can expect to see a lot more cars with Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) entering their workshops in the months and years to come. To help the aftermarket gain its share in this new market, the company has recently launched what it calls a “total TPMS solution.” This encompasses the parts; equipment and technical support that CES believes technicians will need to successfully service TPMS.
CES has partnered with Schrader, one of world’s foremost manufacturers of TPMS sensors and tools in the order to provide a comprehensive offering, say company representatives: “Together with Schrader we’ve put together our ‘total TPMS solution’. It’s a combination of product and support to help garages and tyre specialists succeed in this new area,” says managing director Steve McCann. “For us, it’s important that customers can get everything they need from one phone call.”
Naturally sensors form the core of their offering. Through its partnership with Schrader the distributor stores a wide range in stock. “We’re taking full advantage of Schrader’s industry leading position to offer our customers access to one of the largest range of TPMS sensors available. New applications are being added all the time to provide the most current and comprehensive range possible,” continued McCann.
In addition CES is also stocking an ever-expanding range of service packs that include components such as caps, cores, grommets and nuts. According to the company, OEM specifications call for these components to be replaced every time tyres and rims on TPMS equipped vehicles are serviced.
When it comes to equipment, the distributor is able to supply both service tools and diagnostic tools. In particular, the diagnostic tools are a vital part of any TPMS operation. They’re essential to detect and diagnose a faulty sensor; ensure a correct replacement is fitted, retrain or register new sensors with the vehicle’s ECU and reset or turn-off any warning lights.
Free TPMS handbook
TPMS is new to many technicians, which company representatives say is a fact that has been recognised by CES. To help technicians improve their understanding of TPMS and the impact it will have upon their business, CES has produced its own 20 page ‘TPMS handbook’. The handbook is available for free and has been backed up by a specific TPMS section on the company’s website. Technicians can also contact their Parts Advisors for technical support.
“Like anything that’s relatively new, technicians may initially need support and advice. We feel it’s important they can pick up the phone and get the answers they need. Our Parts Advisors have received training so they’re a useful resource that customers can depend upon,” said McCann.
CES believes the steps they’ve taken will provide technicians with everything they need to get started in TPMS. “When it comes to product our range of sensors and servicing packs is constantly increasing to include the latest applications. Then there’s our large stock holding and next day nationwide delivery service so technicians can get exactly the TPMS part or tool they need quickly. Finally, this is all backed by our renowned technical support and expertise. It’s why we believe technicians should choose CES as their TPMS partner,” McCann concluded.
