BKT Europe announces new MD, Italian distributor
Off-road tyre specialist BKT has reported two important new developments in its European operation since the start of this year. The first of these is the appointment of Lucia Salmaso, who as marketing director has directed strategic marketing and communication activities at BKT Europe srl since the start of 2009 and helped to establish the European subsidiary’s headquarters in Seregno, near Milan, Italy, as managing director of BKT Europe.
Salmaso has held the position of managing director since 1 January and she serves in this role parallel to her existing function of heading up the subsidiary’s marketing activities. “I feel honoured to be able to hold this even more strategic role,” Salmaso commented. “The manifold activities that we are going to carry out over the next months are aimed at several corporate development objectives for the purpose of major penetration of several market segments. We are going to strengthen the brand and we will spare no effort in firmly trying to keep to our goal, i.e. to reach a ten per cent global market share by 2015. Without any doubt, Europe will play a significant role within this planned growth.”
According to BKT, Lucia Salmaso possesses 30 years of tyre industry experience and has held leadership roles with leading brands in several market segments. Since 2009 she has overseen several BKT initiatives, including the advertising campaign associated with the launch of the company’s new logo and the implementation of independent quality testing for BKT tyres.
Univergomma new Italian distributor
By appointing Univergomma as a new national distributor in the agriculture sector in addition to the tyre maker’s established partners, BKT says it aims to significantly strengthen its distribution structure in Italy, a country it considers a strategic territory. The new distributor also acts as exclusive distributor for the Viking, Nexen, Jinyu and Sunitrac brands in Italy. “Univergomma’s philosophy lies in the passion for an idea, in following and achieving a goal,“ stated Alexandra Peccia, head for marketing and foreign relations at Univergomma. “Besides, it guarantees highest quality standards thanks to a service which has been consolidated over years of experience. Enthusiasm as well as care for the demand in the field have guaranteed the company’s growth for more than fifty years, and the same elements are actually feeding the desire to pursue this task together with BKT.”
The new distributor has “laid the foundations for a specific support and service structure dedicated to clients in the agriculture sector,” BKT shares. “We firmly believe in this project,“ Peccia concluded. “And we are thoroughly convinced of achieving best results already this first year. In the course of the year 2012, we are going to organise shows and events to further and spread the awareness of the BKT brand among our clientele. We are confident that those who have followed us up to now will appreciate the quality of the products of the Indian company.”
