Sokov takes over as Sibur-Russian Tyres CEO
Sibur-Russian Tyres has announced the promotion of Dimitry Sokov to the role of chief executive officer. The chief operational officer’s appointment to the position takes effect 6 February. Sokov replaces Vadim Gurinov as chief executive officer; Gurinov now serves as chairman of the company’s Board of Directors.
In announcing Sokov’s appointment, Gurinov wished his successor every success in his new position and praised his previous performance, noting that Sokov’s deep understanding of the tyre industry and management experience has contributed to Sibur-Russian Tyres’ leadership position within the Russian tyre industry.
Sokov, whose educational background includes a degree in financial management from Moscow State Technology University “Stankin” and an MBA in strategic management from the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, has served in a number of positions at SRT over the last decade: In 2002 he was appointed head of sales and the following year became deputy chief executive officer responsible for sales, purchases and logistics. He has held his current position since 2006.
In his new role, Dmitry Sokov will continue to further the tyre maker’s organic growth and help it realise its potential through improving corporate governance and business capitalisation. The company also says it remains open to partnership with all players involved in the development of Russia’s tyre industry.
Sokov said Sibur-Russian Tyres has arrived at a new stage in its development in good shape and had gained unique industry experience through its mergers and acquisitions. The tyre maker will now instigate a number of major projects to boost production output, including the construction of new facilities, he added.
