HiQ technicians pass ATA Diagnostic assessment
HiQ is aiming to “reassure customers that they are receiving the best technical and professional service,” according to fast fit manager, Stuart Carr, and to that end it is encouraging its technicians to complete Automotive Technician Accreditation training. Now two of its technicians at the Berwick upon Tweed and Blyth franchises have completed the Level 3 ATA Diagnostic assessment – the first in the network to achieve this level, regulated by the Institute of Motor Industry. Paul Dugid of HiQ Berwick upon Tweed and John Parker of HiQ Blyth are now registered as diagnostic technicians through the programme.
The technicians said: “It feels great to have passed the assessment and to be accredited in this discipline. Training is an essential part of our jobs as technicians so we can continue to service our customers’ needs and meet their car care requirements.” Becoming a diagnostic technician also serves as the entry level recognised by VOSA to become an MOT tester, which will open the door for further training opportunities.
McGill tyres franchisee Ali McGill, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and one that Paul and John should be very proud of. As a team, it is important for us to reassure our customers that we have the right people and the right tools to do the job competently and professionally. We will continue to push Paul and John in their training but there’s no doubt they should be praised for what they have achieved so far.”
Carr added: “Paul and John have taken the lead in our training programme and have worked hard to pass this assessment. We are committed to training our technicians to the highest level, and we use the ATA assessment programme to verify the work carried out through the HiQ Academy.”
