Goodyear reacts to tyre manufacturing innovation award
The endorsement of Goodyear’s truck tyre retread cushion life extension as “Tyre Manufacturing Innovation of the Year” by Tyre Technology International has been greeted with “honour” by Jean-Claude Kihn, chief technical officer for The Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Company. The Multi-Piece Cushion technology was called “a big advantage for Goodyear Authorised Retreaders.”
Jay Hofner, general manager, retread said the Multi-Piece Cushion’s “round shape is unique, making it more user-friendly. Traditional truck tyre cushion gum is flat, with edges and corners that can stick to other layers of cushion gum.” The system’s three distinct layers provide greater heat resistance and eliminate the need for refrigeration.
