Goodyear joins automotive green group
Goodyear Tire & Rubber has become the latest company to join The Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP), a collaboration between automotive manufacturers and suppliers and the US Environmental Protection Agency that aims to create new business-centred approaches to environmental protection; solutions that address green issues while providing value throughout the automotive supply chain.
“We are pleased to welcome Goodyear to SP” said the partnership’s chair, Randy Leslie. “Goodyear’s commitment to creating a foundation of sustainability and working with its suppliers to minimise its environmental footprint will be an excellent asset for SP’s members as we work together to improve environmental performance while increasing value throughout the automobile supply chain.”
The tyre maker will be represented in the partnership by David Chapman, director, Global EHS Sustainability; David Woodyard, global manager, Environmental Sustainability and Product Stewardship; and Aiman Abdrabou, global manager, Energy & GHG. “Goodyear is pleased to be part of the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment,” said Chapman. “As a company and industry participant, Goodyear is actively addressing sustainability issues and looks forward to combining the experience and environmental leadership of SP’s member companies with that of Goodyear’s Global Sustainability Team as we work on key issues such as materials optimisation, operational efficiency and reducing energy use in our supply chain.”
“We look forward to working with Goodyear to achieve SP’s vision of improving the environmental sustainability of the automobile supply chain” concluded Leslie.
