Dunlop Motorsport announces new manager
Richard Johnson has been appointed Dunlop Motorsport’s sales and product manager, Motorcycle Tyres. The role will cover product management, pricing and strategic planning for its motorcycle range. Steve Male, manager, Motorcycle Motorsport Europe stated: “We are delighted that Richard is able to progress into this role. His appointment brings the knowledge gained in some of the world’s most competitive racing environments and gives us the opportunity to benefit from his vast experience as we grow our motorsport business.”
Johnson has 24 years of experience in the Dunlop Motorsport team, joining in 1988 as a temporary tyre fitter. He progressed to be a Senior Service Technician in Superbike and Grand Prix racing in the nineties, before being appointed as Service Engineer for European Motorcycle racing in 2008. In this highly competitive arena, Richard was a key part of Dunlop’s success in open championships such as the IDM Superbike championship in Germany, where Dunlop took a hat-trick of titles in the 125cc, Supersport and Superbike Championships last year.
“We have a diverse portfolio of Motorsport activity, ranging from World Championship Moto2 and Moto3 racing, International Motocross, Road Racing such as the Isle of Man TT and many national racing championships. This range of activity requires strong product management and strategic planning and this new appointment will build our capability to win on track and as a business” added Male.
