ANRPC: 2011 production up 6.4%
The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) reports that Q1 2012 Production Growth is expected to marginally increase by 0.3 per cent. During 2011ANRPC's total production rose 6.7 per cent to 10.127 million tons, faster than the 6.4 per cent rate expected until a month ago. The upward revision results from a better-than-expected output from Vietnam for the year. The country produced 811,600 tons of NR in 2011 as against 780,000 tons as anticipated earlier and 751,700 tons produced in the year before.
Lower exports are expected in Q1 2012. ANRPC’s total exports of NR are estimated to have grown 2.8 per cent to 7.685 million tons during 2011 as compared to the 2.4 per cent rate previously expected for the year. Total volume of exports anticipated for 2012 is 7.892 million tons, an increase of 2.7 per cent from 2011.
Although projection for export growth in January and February 2012 were good as compared to the previous year, exports for the month of March are anticipated to reduce from 676,000 tons to 644,000 tons.
Imports are expected to rise to 3.8 per cent in Q1 2012. Revised figures available from member nations reveal that ANRPC’s total imports of NR during 2011 would be 3.841 million tons, an increase of 1 per cent from the quantity imported during the previous year.
However, the projected imports will grow at the rate of 2.6 per cent in 2012 to 3.939 million tons from 3.841 million tons in 2011. Also, the anticipated growth for January 2012’s imports will grow at 0.6 per cent as compared to 2011.
Preliminary figures available from China reveal that the total imports during the quarter would touch 833,000 tons as compared to the 744,000 tons imported during the same quarter in the previous year.
China is anticipating a total import of 2.843 million tons during 2011, up by 2.9 per cent from the year before, 2010. Also, the country is expected to import 2.940 million tons during 2012.
