Vipal mobile school trains over 909 in tyre maintenance in 2011
Brazilian retreader, Vipal’s mobile training unit helped to qualify 909 industry professionals in 2011, travelling nearly 23,700km across Brazil. In the last five years, the Carreta-Escola, as the mobile unit is called, has conducted 553 training sessions, delivered to 7,006 people across Brazil, with the number of participating companies reaching 334. Vipal expects to train about 1,050 people in 2012.
Vipal says its training programme – “unprecedented in the industry” – was created to bring technical expertise and technology to tyre maintenance professionals. The Carreta is a truck-sized unit measuring 14×2.8m, which when opened becomes a classroom of 60sqm. The wagon – transformed into a training and conference room – has equipment such as changers, balancers and compressors, alongside a multimedia suite.
Vipal marketing manager, Eduardo Sacco explains that activities are theoretical and practical, covering issues very important for safety and tyre maintenance, such as identifying “the causes of damage and abnormal wear on the tyres… [and] the correct mounting and dismounting tyres. Also, repairs to tyres and inner tubes, use and care of tools and accessories, storage of tyres etc.” Sacco says the information “is designed to meet the highest levels of quality in its execution.”
Mauro Cerqueira, of União Renovadora de Pneus and Unimak Reformadora de Pneus, says that: “the technical support for training professionals Vipal’s programme offers has helped us strengthen partnerships.” In his opinion, “the Carreta-School is now an important tool for customer loyalty.”
