Sustainability key to agri tyre design, says Trelleborg
During recent agricultural trade shows – Agritechnica in Germany and SIMA in France – Trelleborg Wheel Systems asked more than 300 agricultural sector opinion leaders what issues they viewed as key to agriculture and important in future tyre development. The Swedish firm reports that 72 per cent of those surveyed stated they considered sustainability a key issue. When it came to tyre design, 84 per cent thought lowering environmental impact should be taken into consideration in future agriculture tyre designs while 73 per cent said they believe a tyre that reduced environmental impact could actually improve farm productivity and efficiency.
“This survey demonstrates that farmers are becoming extremely interested in the topic of sustainable agricultural solutions since they result in both higher profits for the farmer and benefits for the environment,” said Lorenzo Ciferri, marketing director of Agricultural and Forestry Tires at Trelleborg Wheel Systems. “We are gratified that this supports the substantial investments we have made in our TM Blue environmentally-friendly tyre technology and that when specifically asked about this tyre, 79 per cent of opinion leaders loved the tyre.”
Trelleborg Wheel Systems says it was well represented at both the Agritechnica and SIMA exhibitions – 33 per cent of high powered tractors on display at Agritechnica and 32 per cent at SIMA were fitted with TM tyres.
